Where are the climate archives ? In the ice ! During the first Ice Memory expeditions, international scientists extracted five ice cores from the world's highest glaciers containing gases and aerosols that have been trapped for thousands of years. Two of them will be analysed in Grenoble, in the analytical platform dedicated to the glacial archives of the Institute of Environmental Geosciences. These data will provide unprecedented information on the composition of the atmosphere, and thus on the climate, of the past. Reportage.
